Humor, interesting stories and a great demo by Cheng Lian highlighted our March meeting. His beautifully costumed model was perfect. In the afternoon workshop, he cautioned many of us who grew up with the dark to light theory that our values were "too dark" or "too warm." Cheng emphasized keeping the value planes of the face to round it, but also to have the values gently blend together rather than having an abrupt change or too much difference in color. Lots more photos of the afternoon workshop on our Facebook page, courtesy of Cheryl Holmes.

Mike Mahon presented a 3 day in-depth Painting Process workshop that received rave reviews from the artists attending:
"What a fun day! Pastels in motion, colors flying, laughter, sighs, sharing and all the things that we artists love." That was how one artist felt after a full day with PSST members. Linda Dellandre presented a non-stop instructional demo, with a hands-on afternoon workshop. Two (of many) tips to super painting: use side strokes and "it's never going to pop unless you have enough dark." Got plans for Saturday, September 6th? Hope it's to be at Jerry's Artarama Houston for a super welcome back after the summer. Linda Dellandre promises to present a dynamite demo beginning promptly at 10:30. Remember that the business meeting starts early, at 10:15. Lots of news to catch up on, so plan to come early. Linda reinforces the demo information with her workshop from 1:00 - 4:00. If you are one of the lucky 15 who registered in time, you'll have about 45 minutes between the meeting and the workshop, so consider bringing a sandwich lunch. One participant will win Linda's handmade, "portable pastel box" |
